Other than the obvious change in name, does anybody know the differences between the older EG 112 and the current Pacifica?
How do the above compare to the Yamaha super strat, RGS 121 (wood top, HSH)? Is it just the neck humbucker and lack of pickguard?
This is a possible gift for a young nephew. Choices are between a used EG model (very minor fret wear, cosmetically near mint) at $80, a closeout RGS 121 at $130 and a new Pacifica at $140.
Other suggestions in this price range are also welcomed.

You`ve pretty well pegged it. That`s the major differences. You can get a used Pacifica on ebay for about $125 sometimes - I`ve never seen a new one for $140 - that`s a good deal!!
Change is inevitable. Change is constant.
