I have a Teese Picture wah which is amazing and wonderful but I was trying to put together a relatively inexpensive wah pedal for my wife. I bought a cheap, broken Dunlop GCB-95 wah and installed the Roger Mayer pot and the reissue Dunlop (yellow) fasel inductor. These items gave the pedal a wider range. I replaced the input resistor from 68k to 47k which gave the pedal a bit more bite and replaced a couple of the caps with xicon caps.
Unfortunately, the xicon caps I have are all 600v so they are way too large for the teeny board and I couldn't replace all of them. I also soldered a
1ufd cap in parallel with the 4.7ufd cap to get a bit more bottom end. I'd like to go up to 10ufd but again, size was a problem...After these changes the pedal really seemed to come alive

As soon as my 3pdt switch arrives, I'll mod it for true bypass...

Anyone else know of some cool mods?

Got it from small bear electronics. It was easy to install. By itself, it did not change the tone all that much but along with 6 or 7 other resistor and cap changes I'm getting an incredible sound from the pedal now...

That's a good point. I should have mentioned that. It's a much higher quality pot than the Dunlop and it was actually cheaper in price.

...it's a great wah. I've got five great wahs, actually: That Crybaby
I mentioned above, the Wizard, a custom-tweaked Teese that Geoffrey did for me to imitate the very old Italian Crybabies, a Teese RMC-MOD board in a Vox V-846 housing, and one of "ProAnalog" Scotty's Supa-Quacks.

They all kill, really. They're all different. For clean rhythm wah stuff, I like the custom Teese and the RMC-MOD/Vox. For high gain, I like the Wizard a ton. The Supa-Quack is very unique, and great across the board, and that Fulltone-inductor Crybaby is also unique but not as kEwL as the ProAnalog wah.

The "Roger Mayer" pot is a 100K linear type. The "Hot Potz" uses a custom Z taper so the response is sharper/quicker. It is very subtle but if you actually measure it you can see it's shape.

The nice thing about the RM pot is that it uses a conductive plastic element and the case is 98% closed so it lasts longer and stays cleaner.

Probably the best bet is to buy a used Vox reissue, replace the inductor with fulltone or reissue fasel and screw around with some of the parts values. My guess is that while it may not sound as good as a picture wah, it'll get you what you're looking for...
