I`m looking for a new guitar and decided to go for a Vintage. They`ve got the right price with the right quality for my purposes and possibilities.
At first I just wanted to get the Les Paul clone (V100 series), but then I saw the price of the SG clone (VS6 series). I like to make British guitar rock/pop. Lot`s of chords and riffs. (Anyone here here knows the band OneHundredHours...? That kind of positive rocking guitar sound). And I want practice some more on heavy lead guitar (using the excellent books from Troy Stetina!).
I though the LP would be the right choice, but when I saw the SG I thought: that`s even better (and cheaper..).
But just now I noticed the VH51, a Van Halen guitar clone. I noticed it because it has a Floyd Rose locking tremolo! And I like a thing like that! But I wonder if it`s got the right sound for my appetite... It`s got 2 humbuckers, just like the others, so the sound should be in the same leageu... I haven`t played it because I`ve only seen it on the internet... BTW One disadvantage is that it`s got a bolt on neck, while the LP and SG have a set neck. Which (so I`m told) is better (for sustain and ease of use). (Is that true...?)
Problem is... I cannot find any GOOD info about this guitar. Using Google with the search term `Vintage` is a big problem... They didn`t really think of that when they though up that name, I guess... There are no reviews (from well know mags) at all about the guitars I`ve mentioned.
Anyway, I`d like to know your thoughts about these guitars. And the brand Vintage itself... I mostly read very positive things about is. Everyone says it`s good value for the money. And to prevent useless `get a better guitar` replies: I absolutely won`t spend more money than I plan to do now (the Vintage LP is already above my budget)!!!
Hope to hear from you all soon!
I am convinced that, except in a few extraordinary cases, one form or another of an unhappy childhood is essential to the formation of exceptional gifts. - Thornton Niven Wilder, 1897 - 1975
