do tube amps work well with accoustic guitars?

Hi Allen, The short answer is "Yes" One thing you can always do is add an acoustic pedal through the tube amp which will enhance the acoustic.

The major difference between Tube and Solid State amps is the clip.....SS tends to abruptly clip whist tube smooths out the signal. Having said that today there are some really good solid state amps on the market....The best is to take your instrument to the dealer and play it through a few amps and see what "YOU" like
