The Door To Memory

The Doors are no doubt, one of my strongest musical influences, dating back to my teens. Obviously, they date back before I was born but for me, they were one of my great discoveries as a teenager.

That period in my life was when I fist got into music in a serious way, surrounding myself with musician friends, listening to there music  - a lot of Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis and so on, until my interest was peaked enough for me to go to the record store (yes, I am that old) and flip through the records, asking to listen  to things I hadn’t heard before, based on intuition, or cover or just plain absolutely gorgeous men on the covers, such as Jim Morrison on the cover of The American Prayer

an american prayer

Obviously I lucked out with this method, and hit gold, with  the record turning and turning and me, darkly (as fit for a teenager reciting along with him)

Anyway, Chris Goes Rock, just wrote a great post on Strange Days, which was the Doors second album.

He says it better than I would so check it out.
