Hi
I know the obvious about guitar maintenance but I am sure there are silent killers that are threatening the well being of my guitar, and I don't even have an Idea.
Could anyone give me Ideas as to the optimum conditions for keeping guitars in, like temperature, humidity and so on?
Thanks in advance

Hi Emma, You are right with your comments. Amazingly, I have watched fellow pro's in a hot climate play a full gig and put their guitar away with not as much as a dust. Always wipe down the strings after playing, make sure the guitar is in a cool place never in direct sunlight, never lean it up against the neck, they normally only fall over once. If you have a case for the guitar thats where it should be.. Make sure the guitar is not "Overtuned" as at pitch, there is 180lbs pressure on the neck. (Surprised.?) When you change your strings get a toothbrush and clean off the frets with soap and water then wipe down the fretboard and rub "Lemon oil" into it,don't overdo it, best to leave it overnight and then the next day wipe off any excess oil. Change strings regularly, within 2-6 months depending on use.

An occasional polish with a good quality guitar polish doesn't go amiss.

Look after your Ax and it will give you years of good service, the best way to keep it in good condition is to play as much as you can..always enjoy playing.
