Anyone out there got any comments about a Stag Bass ? Such as the one at http://www.playrecord.net/index.php?catalog=1070 - I'm look for one for a new starter, my son aged 15 and I know nothing about them.
I live in the UK if that's any help.

Let me know if this is OK, or if you have any negative comments about them.
I'm trying not to spend too much - he may decide he doesn't want to play bass !

Check out Aire Guitars on eBay, he does a good deal.

I don't know much about Stagg products, but I bought my daughter's Epiphone there with a deal on bass, amp, bag, lead etc. He's in Bradford.

Have a look here, too.

I bought my daughter (who was 12 at the time) an Encore PK40 starter kit, it contains everything you need - including a Kustom 10W amplifier.

They cost about 179 UKP, and it sounds pretty good to me - the amp is plenty loud enough for practising, and sounds amazingly good for it's size.

The bass itself is a P-Bass clone, and weighs a ton - but it helps make the kids big and strong

Stagg actually makes pretty decent acoustic guitars, if you avoid the absolute cheapest they make. I never bothered with their electric instruments, although I do get the idea that they might be sufficient starter's material.

When my son said he wanted to play electric guitar I bought a cheap 'starter' kit for the sole reason that if it was a passing phase I would not have £100's tied up in an instrument that is collecting dust in a cupboard.
As it turned out he is now a very accomplished guitarist and soon to be off to university to study music......with his les pauls and strat.

I digress, Stagg, from what I have seen, make passable instruments but please, do not expect too much from such a budget instrument.

There are a number of retailers who offer a complete kit: bass, cables and practice amp for the £150-250 mark that may be worth a look, try Aire guitars or PMT.
When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you.
