HiRodney 8486,

Here are the available details with ref to the given serial number.

Guitar Info
Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 1984 - 1987

Fuji String Instrument Production Corporation

Fuji String Instrument Production Corporation was opened in may 1960, they initially started manufacturing violins and quickly switched to classical guitar production. In 1962 electric guitar construction was started. Fujigen has a reputation for excellent quality and craftsmanship so the guitars they produce are highly regarded. They produce guitars via OEM for famous brands such as Ibanez, Epiphone, Yamaha and Fender (the import Special Interest Group nature model), G&L and others.

Fenderphil,
I assume you were replying to David the guest, with an E9 serial. Assuming it has Made in USA on it somewhere then it is an 89 US made. Otherwise, the E9 serial was used in Korea around 89/90. I have never seen a MIJ Squier E9 serial and E8 (MIJ Squiers) are pretty rare. There were also some E0 Korean guitars which appeared to be built from some Japan made parts (& supervision?) I presume they were made during the Japan-Korea transition and are very close to Japan quality. There was some goofy numbers used during this early Korean period, most notably The SquierII in 91 having an E1 serial and no "made in" on the guitar. I frequently have to correct and disappoint sellers on ebay who list these guitars as 1981 USA made, based on the E1 prefix. Incidently the original Squier Bullet 1* guitars with E7/E8 can be from Japan, Korea, or India. After the short lived USA Squiers there were Korean, Mexican, and the high spec MIJ Silver Series all being made around the same time. Korea & Mexico (re-)released Fender labelled "Squier Series" headstocks. Perhaps that was a quasi 10yr anniversary of the originals which were branded the same way.

I would contact Fender via there website and contact customer Servive "Jeff Krouse" he will be able to give you the complete spec sheet including when and where it was made.
