understand they are made by Samick. Your best bet is to try one out, then compare it to something similar you know is good & let your ears & fingers tell you.

fairly old; it used to be the house name for low-end Sears catalog guitars made by Danelectro and Tiesco, among others.
The new Silvertones advertised by the guy from Kiss are pretty new. There`s nothing in common with the older ones except the name.

seem that any regular walk in type music stores sell them , at least not yet. otherwise there a number of reviews of some of the other new silvertone guitars at harmony central , just not the SSL3. i`ve been looking at a number of retail websites that sell them for a while now and they seem to get in the SSL3 and run out then get more in. so people are definitely buying them , but nobody here ?

Silvertone`s made by Samick now. But Silvertone`s a cool brand name to have on the head of your guitar!
Here`s another guy selling interesting guitars under his own brand. This is his Les Paul model:
He`s got an interesting concept. He contracts with an Asian manufacturer (some of the guitars come from China, some from Korea I think). He told me---on the phone--that he has to order at least 400 guitars at a time, so most of those are the Strat-Tele-LP copies that sell easily. The rest are his `fun` guitars--I bought one of the Sidejacks, just couldn`t resist!
If nothing else, the guy is an incredible photographer--because all the Eastwood guitars look hot.
But they get great reviews too, and I *spoke* (via email) with a couple of owners who were very pleased with the quality.
Here`s a link to the Harmony Central reviews: http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Eastwood/
Hey, look, I happen to own a Gibson from 1965. I like it and all--but most of the fun guitars seem to be coming from Korea these days.
