rickenbacker copies

this may be a silly question but I have seen almost every guitar copied by another overseas manufacturer les paul-samick prs-cort et al fenders-multiple manufacturer gretch-samick and a couple of others
I have never seen a Rick copied. Anyone know of any?????

They never last though, because Ric is very aggressive about enforcing their patents.
I have seen a few that had no name at all on them & were pretty good(350V63 copies, like the Lennon model but with a full scale). I think Jay Turser might have made them...

sure what model in particular. It was branded "Encore", I believe. I could never get it to stay in tune well enough to judge how it sounded.

remember, Ric has never, and never plans to, give any manufacturer the rights to reproduce their guitars. there have been some illegal copies made, almost all overseas, but as someone else mentioned, Rickenbacker is very aggressive about taking care of these things. The idea seems to be that if they are the only ones making them, they can make sure that everything is always up to their standards (which are high) and they wont have to worry about people being dissapointed.

link a couple posts back appeared to be some company in Norway. I`ll bet they don`t send many of them to the US. z9design.com

Actually, Rickenbackers are priced better than Gibsons and a lot more bang for the buck (IMO). Most models range between $9-1600 and resale is high, i.e., they don`t depreciate like many other brands. The downside is that you either like them or you hate them due to the physical characterisitics of their necks and fretboards being narrow and lacquered. Their is also a perception that they are one-trick ponies but outside of the twelve strings they really do have a lot of utility. And they are quality instruments.
