I have had the higher end Peavey Wolfgang for about a year. I recently just bought my first Strat - a new American series. I really like the way my Strat sounds with my amp. When distorted, all the notes in a chord seem clear and it seems more responsive to my touch and less muddy. The Wolfgang sounds mushier when distorted and really doesn't have a good clean sound. I'm thinking the Wolfgangs pups may be to hot and because the strat is single coil.

Any suggestions on a pickup with more clarity that would sound good in my Wolfgang? Does the Wolfgang have a standard pickup size or is redrilling and mods needed? I was thinking maybe the '59 Seymour Duncan
Humbuckers or a Dimarzio Fred.

I'm happy with an older (non-SD logo on bobbins) set of the Duncan '59's in my Hamer. I swapped out an older Duncan JB bridge p/u in favor of the '59 bridge about 6 months ago and I like the '59 better (this week, anyway...

Harmonic Design Vintage + humbuckers (get the uncovered version) - awesome (but they cost awesome too).
