Hi, I,m trying to find out what serial number R8367 means. Fender Stratacaster. Have had no luck in searching the web. Decal is of 1955 to 1960 it looks like. Its light blue, dark rosewood neck on front and light wood on back. No rear spring cover. Original cost? Original year made? Present value?

Can anyone help.

Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum

This is really strange. No where does this number even show to have any connection with Fender. Even the most reliable place, Fender's own website HERE doesn't show this in its 'odd serial numbers' section.

Are there no other marks on it?

Thanks for the response.

Back of head tunner stock has the fender custom shop on it.

As far as i can tell, in 1995 the Relic series started with Rxxxx but don't have any info on number progression.

I will call or bring it into the Fender Corporate office in Scottsdale to find out.

Thanks, SG

I would be interested in knowing what they have to say. If you could let me know? (Since I get curious about 'mysterious' things )

This is a little late, but...

The s/n could put that neck in the '54/'56 range, the number is right. From what I understand, you should be able to remove the neck and look at the butt where it joins the guitar. There should be an actual date of production there.
