I'm thinking about getting the Ibanez S470 (FOF). But it's quit hard to find some serious info about it on the net. Apart from the usual Ibanez blah blah en the numerous 'user-reviews'. Anyone here who's got this guitar? Is the ZR tremolo REALLY the best tremolo there is? Is it a good all round guitar? I was planning on getting a Les Paul clone, but I missed the tremolo. Then I saw the S470FOF... I'm dying to get more and more info about it!

Okay! I'm going to the shop tomorrow to give it a try (don't know yet if they have it in stock though...).
I also got interested in this one because of the ZR tremolo. I think a tremolo is a nice device to give my solo's something extra.
I'm also interested because I've heard from users that it's a fast guitar:
and since I've ordered Stetina's Speed Mechanics book sometime ago, I can use a fast guitar. I even heard some people say the played faster on an
Ibanez guitar than on another right away, because the enck is suited for it.
Don't know if that's true: I will know tomorrow. Would be nice if it IS true!
And the fact that it's got two humbuckers AND a single coil makes it a great allround guitar.
Plus the fact that it's pretty cheap in comparison to other 'real' guitars ('real' meaning: no copy but an original).

It has to be pretty bad if I'm not going to buy it soon. But that might take a week or two, three (got to get a bit more money) so I think you'll get it sooner than me. And if you do: let me know what you think of it!

Darn... they didn't have one in store... It'll be at least two weeks before

they think the price wil drop a little and they don't want to buy them now or they'll lose money...

I am in the market for a new guitar and was actually looking at one of these today, and I am quite serious about buying one...amber. From the verry little that I read on the internet, the reviews seemed to be mixed. What I like about it is the zero point bridge. I have only owned one guitar with a tremelo, and it was a jaguar. It was a bitch to keep in tune. I am not a big trem user, but was thinking that I would like to experiment with it if I ever wanted to, and also not have any hassles with the tuning and such. The quality on the guitar seems to be pretty good. I have never owned an Ibanez, but the people who own them seem to rave about them. I play a little of every thing so I am looking for an all around versatile guitar, that looks cool.
The music shop here in my town has one for $519 so it's price is better than anything I have found on the net. I am going to look a litle more, but I think I might get it. I am pretty picky, so if I buy it, it must have some redeeming qualities.

If you get one before I do let me know what you think of it.
I just want to do God's will.

Well, that's a hot recommendation

Something I don't understand is: isn't it possible to try it out in the shops?

well I just bought an ibanez s670 and its got the zr bridge and I can't get the thing to stay in tune and the retards from guitar center didn't even give me a manual to help me set it up and it kind of pisses me off because I had to pay 900 dollars for something that doesn't even work right.

You will have to demand either your money back or a replacement. I believe every store selling stuff is obligated to sell working products and if not so you can sue them. I will have to look at the law for that (since I'm not American I am not savvy about that) but isn't there something like a consumer's organization that protects consumers from being cheated?

ya there is I have a warranty with guitarcenter and a one year warranty with Ibanez, if I can I think I'll try to get my money back and just get an ibanez 1570 prestige like I had planned on.

for deim517 the s series are nice i'm not sayin they're bad guitars, I like mine I just wished that it worked right so if you get one just ask to see the whammy bar and use it because thats the only way you can findout if its set up correctly, and a word of advise for if you do get one don't fiddle with the string tension wheel on the back, I have a feeling that thats what someone did to mine and they had no bussiness doing it.
