Props to D'Addario

This Monday I put a new set of D'Addario extra light strings on one of my new favorite acoustic guitars. (The axe is an inexpensive one that I bought to keep around the office of after-hours jam sessions. We've got a couple of players in my shop. It's a 'JBP', of all things, and is a really nice playing instrument for only costing $180 new, and on sale locally for $135.)

I have had good luck with D'Addario over the years, and I like their strings.

Anyway, when I got done mounting the strings and began tuning the thing up, I couldn't help but notice that the 3rd (G) string was flawed, and had a gap in the bronze wound part. It was sure to break in no time.

I emailed the customer service folks at D'Addario, and explained what happened. I had an email response in just a couple of hours. The guy cheerfully apologized, and indicated that he would sent me a new string.

Bigger than Stuttgart, when I got home from the airfield yesterday, there was a parcel from D'Addario waiting for me. They sent me a whole new set of the strings, not just the one that was flawed.

Kudo's to those guys!!
They will get my business again and again.

Oops.

That was me that posted that.

I didn't realize that I wasn't signed in as sparky2 until the posting popped up with a 'guest' ID.

I'll be more careful next time.

Hi Sparky2, I had a similar experience with "Fender" many years ago. I had bought a set of Fender 250's and was restringing until I got to the "D" string, It proved totally impossible to tune to "Concert Pitch" I sent the string and batch details to Fender and as in your case they sent a nice letter saying they had a machine problem with the D in that batch and that my comment that it would never tune until hell freeezes over was correct. That is the only time in 50 yeras of playing that I had such a problem

They also sent me a new set
