This Monday I put a new set of D'Addario extra light strings on one of my new favorite acoustic guitars. (The axe is an inexpensive one that I bought to keep around the office of after-hours jam sessions. We've got a couple of players in my shop. It's a 'JBP', of all things, and is a really nice playing instrument for only costing $180 new, and on sale locally for $135.)
I have had good luck with D'Addario over the years, and I like their strings.
Anyway, when I got done mounting the strings and began tuning the thing up, I couldn't help but notice that the 3rd (G) string was flawed, and had a gap in the bronze wound part. It was sure to break in no time.
I emailed the customer service folks at D'Addario, and explained what happened. I had an email response in just a couple of hours. The guy cheerfully apologized, and indicated that he would sent me a new string.
Bigger than Stuttgart, when I got home from the airfield yesterday, there was a parcel from D'Addario waiting for me. They sent me a whole new set of the strings, not just the one that was flawed.
Kudo's to those guys!!
They will get my business again and again.
