Particularly with bottom loading strings (Telecaster) Often strings will eventually break between the string ferrule and the bridge..( B & E) Here is a tip that will help: Take some thin plastic coated wire (Like hook up wire) cut a portion about two and a half inches, then pull out the wire leaving you with a little plastic tube, slide that over your string and all the way down to the ferrule, thus any metalic part that comes into contact with the string especially E and B, between the ferrule and the bridge. The string will have protection. It doesn't matter how long providing it is kept to the backside of the bridge...I also run a pencil over the bridge saddle and also under the B & E string tree on the headstock. Plus over the nut This allows the string to move freely. When I was gigging if I ran out of string ease I would gently go over all the strings with the pencil and the graphite made them easy to glide up and down without making you sore
