I just discovered my old TS-808 Tube Screamer in my storage locker. I'd like to start using it again, with an AC adapter (don't like batteries).

I don't have the original adapter and the current Ibanez AC-109 has the wrong plug. The AC jack on this ol' TS-808 appears to require a 1/8" audio plug!

Can anyone tell me if the contemporary Ibanez AC-109 has the same mA output as the 1978 version? If so, can I assume that the shield/post polarity would be the same?

Any assistance would be _really_ appreciated!

Just get a Radio Shack universal A/C adapter. I assume that the 808 uses 9
Volts, and the mA rating doesn't really matter - just get one of their 1.0 or 1.3 amp models. As long as your adapter can supply "at least" the current required, more won't hurt as the pedal won't draw any more than it needs anyway. The Radio Shack adapters have removeable tips to fit any device out there,a nd you just turn them around to reverse the polarity.

Thanks, Mike! (and SteveL)

Been looking around, haven't seen any adaptors with that 1/8" plug. I could just get a contemporary Ibanez AC-109 and switch the end, right? It appears to put out 200 mA, do you know if that's consistent with the original?

Thanks for the warning about RS, I don't do a lot of tunes in Bb (the key that explains itself)

The One-Spot has an adapter available that converts its normal center-negative female plug to a tip-positive 1/8" plug. Major
Music Stores should carry 'em.

the tip needs to be positive, any effects 9V adaptor with that 1/8" plug will work ok. Dont use a generic radio shack adaptor unless you like a lot of 60Hz
