I've been playing electric for about 3 years and dabbling with an acoustic
Martin guitar for about 6 months. I know the classical way to hold the guitar is to have your left foot propped up and have the guitar on your left knee. Ever since I started I've held both my electric and acoustic on the right knee and it's been comfortable, but it seems like my fretting hand is too far out in the classical position. Is that classical position only for the smaller nylon string guitars? If so, what's the "correct" way to hold a regular larger one?

When I began playing acoustic my guitar seemed so huge (holding it on the right knee, not the "classical music" way), but after a while you get used to it and don't even feel like it's there. Don't worry, practice and the feeling of hodling a barrel on your knee will soon vanish.
It is impossible to love and to be wise.
