Hi friends, just some information with regard to scales...
You have a Major scale how do you make it a "Minor" scale? This is done by simply flattening the 3rd, 6th, & 7th degrees of the Major scale.
So Take the Cmajor scale :C D E F G A B
So CMinor would be: C D Eb F G Ab Bb
An interesting and melodic Chord Progression is to go around in 5ths
Cmaj7 Gmaj7 Dmaj7 Amaj7 etc etc. Dont forget if this is to hard for you at the moment you can always use: EM BM F#M C#M continue in 5ths.
Here are a couple more substitute chords for you:
For 13th chords use a dominant 7th e.g.G13 use G7
For Minor 9th use Minor 7th For Minor 11ths use Minor7th
A simple rule is anything above 7 use the 7th anything under 7 use the plain major or minor.
I stress that it is good to persevere and play the correct written chord but if you find it difficult at first at least you can substitute these.
