Fellas, arrogance is max-uncool.

This particular link provided a wierd, confusing back-end "snippet"; http://www.intimateaudio.com/psycho_licks.lick15.html showed you

i.e, The 3 note/string methods of playing modal forms 4, (lydian) 5, (mixolydian), 6, (Aeolian) and 7 (locrian).

As previosly establashed, in terms of "theory" they definitely each work up and down the neck over any key's 4th-7th chord "fit's".

Again;

Lead/Melody: 4, (lydian), 5 (mixolydian), 6 (Aeolian)
and 7 (locrian)
Rhythm/Harmony: Maj7, Dom 7, [Relative] minor m7b5

I was able to get a very close effect with just a delay line set around
120ms w/50% feedback. Also, when you are trying to get something like this across to an audience you often don't want the exact sound. Some sounds become so embedded in the culture (and people even make the noise with their mouths, etc.) that your really doing an imitation of an imitation (if you know what I mean) and it actually needs to be more exaggerated and slower than the real thing. It's definitely got a sharp attack (at least for the first few repeats) so you'll probably need more than just tremolo. Actually the sound Eddie Van Halen used at the start of Dancing In The Street is pretty darn close to the same sound.

I haven't heard the sound in a while but I would think a sampling delay line would be your best bet. Get a complex sound going (really bright, lots of harmonics with a sharp attack probably with some flanging also) and either sample and replay it or set a delay to something like sixteenth notes and just hit one good "chunk" near the bridge and let the delay do the rest. The feedback or regeneration setting on the delay will determine how many repeats there are and how fast it fades out.
Weather forecast for tonight: dark.
