Last night i was using my Mesa Rectoverb during band practice and something was wrong with the sound. I tried to get a good clean tone out of the amp on the clean channel(Not pushed) and all i was getting out of the amp was an AC/DC type rock tone. The tone had like an almost phasor type effect sound to it and it was feeding back like mad. Even feeding back when the volume was off on my guitar. I tried the same with the Distortion channel, which definitely shifted to a heavier distorted tone but the vibrato/phasor sound and feeding back was still evident. My R guitarist told me to try turning reverb off, because maybe it's the reverb circuit. When I turned off reverb on the footswitch, the amp went back to normal operation.

There are no lights or indicators of whether the switch is turning on or off reverb, but i suspect that i'm turning off the reverb circuit which may

what the problem would be? If so, can it be fixed by me and not taken to an authorized repair center. Thanks in advance.

eric..i used to own a rectoverb... and i'm happy i sold it.. it seems like one of the tubes..maybe the one that is for the revverb is dying..

but i hated that amp because of the vibrations..the front baffle that holds the screen vibrated like hell and the screws stripped by themselves..

bubye mesa..hello jcm900

Had a similar problem with a Boogie Rectoverb, changed the tubes and problem resolved. Mine was a few years old and had original tubes so I replaced them all and didn't take time to isolate the one causing the problems.
However, if you go the MB web site they have a section where you can download their manuals and each has a section on how to properly isolate tube issues. Hope this helps.
