HI - I'm hoping someone can help me idientify a Stratocaster, so I can surprise my daughter this Christmas. I want to get her the same guitar her favorite singer uses.

I do not have much info, and do not know much about guitars myself. If I suddenly show a big interest and ask her she might get suspicious.

I'll try and figure out how to attach a picture of it to this message.

I have been told that it is a Stratocaster MIM in blue agave, with a blue moto pickguard but I have no clue if this is all true or not.

I see it has no tremolo arm, black pickups and clear blue toggle switch/knobs. I have not been able to find anything close to this yet.

Thanks in advance.

But, I have a splendid idea: why don't you ask AJ herself on her blog?

I am sure she would answer you

That is a great idea. Thanks for the heads-up to the blog.

I have posted a message on AJ's forum and am waiting to hear.

From discussions on other forums and from an email I received from Fender, I think it is the following:

A MIM Standard Stratocaster in Agave Blue (colour #529) with a maple-fretboard. This puts the year of production between 2001 and 2005. A 2-1/16" bridge with the tremolo arm removed.
There are many accessories added on like a Fender 4-ply Blue Moto pickguard, black pickup covers, blue bell knobs and switch tip (probally from DiMarzio), and possibly a vintage amber tint applied to the neck.

If I never hear back from AJ's forum I have been assured that the above specs will produce a Strat close enough that my doughter should recognize it

The problem now is trying to find a blue agave guitar for sale. Doesn't seem to have been a popular colour. There is noting on eBay here in Canada or in the USA. I might have to try and find someone to refinish a different one for me, but I really don't want to go that route if I don't have to.

It will probably result into nothing but I will keep my eyes and ears open and if I hear of one being for sale I will let you know.

I wish you success in finding one. There just 'have' to be one...
