Recently two guitar stores closed here in Tulsa. I don't know for sure, but part of the reason is the Walmart style guitar supercenter we just got here. Roy and Candy's went out about three months ago, although Roy retired and noone wanted the company. Now it's a golf store. Which kinda makes sense, I have a friend who has as many sets of clubs as I have guitars. Music Sound World also closed it's doors on December 31st. Recently Randy Genet was diagnosed with cancer and had no insurance. A large uprising in the Tulsa music scene held a benefit for him and paid his bills. I personally don't think GC has that kind of influence on the individual. Both of these were in excellent locations, semi-iconic buildings, both now just memories. The Guitar House of Tulsa will probably be next, Bob the owner is always asking me if I know anyone who wants to buy a guitar store. At least we can all rest well knowing we can go to Guitar Center and at any given moment and hear at least 3 kids playing "Eruption" poorly. Buy your guitars locally, GC and Musicians Friend will never notice your loss of business.

That's sad to hear, Joey. And, I agree with you. Buy your guitars locally. Not only they usually provide more personalized serviced, but also after-service as these people do care that their customers are satisfied, more than just making profits mass-size.

At Music Sound World? Might try tulsamusicscene.com or tulsabands.com. Maybe ask the Zig Gazette, they find out stuff like that all the time.

Thanks Slash. Yeah, Bryan is probably one of the top 3 guitarists in Tulsa and I took lessons from him several years ago. I used to see him in Roy and Candy's all the time and all of a sudden R&C's is gone. All the numbers I had for Bryan don't work either. Kinda eerie actually. I hope some other Tulsa members might know him.

Have you tried trying to find Roy? Maybe he has an address on him and even if Bryan wouldn't live there now perhaps those people would have a forwarding address you could find him at?

Weirdest thing... I confirmed at lunchtime that Music Sound World has also closed their doors by a lunchtime drive buy. While out I thought I would drop buy the Music Store on 31st street to see what was going on. Can you possibly guess who I found there? Yep, Bryan was visiting as well. We talked for a while and caught up on things. Probably do some pickin' and grinnin' here real soon.
