Hi Guys,

I bought a nice G&L SC-3 from the 80's.

You know the guitar it's a Leo's evolution and the pickups are the MDF
that are a mix between single and humbucker.

Is it possible the the clean sound is really good but the distortion isn't as clean as the strato guitars ??

I mean with the strato I get a linear distorsion with the SC-3 it is more durty less intellegible.

I tought the MDF have to sound a very clean distortion similar to the gibson one.

Anybody with a G&L ???

Thanks,
Simone / Italy

Hi Tin30 I would be inclined to experiment with different capacitors, or even without i.e. if there is a cap attached (Usually to the volume pot)just snip one of the cap legs off at the pot end, you can always solder it back on then if you want, Don't be concerned there is no electric current at this point and you can't damage the guitar.

Here are two sites that may help you to understand the principlw
