Just checking up on a little disscusion a friend and I had last night. Is the Big Muff (the russian made sovtek one) a Fuzz? How is it compared to the
FuzzFoot of the Captain Coconut 2 or any FuzzFace for that matter?
Let us now set forth one of the fundamental truths about marriage: the wife is in charge.

I'm not sure what the original designers at Electro Harmonix would say, but I consider the Big Muff a fuzz. It's sort of the missing link between 60's fuzz and 70's distortion.

It can get much more saturated than the FuzzFoot or Fuzz Face. Those two pedals have a 60's-Hendrix kind of vibe. The Big Muff can do a similar sound on it's lower settings, with the right guitar and amp.
Not exactly the same, but close.

However (IMHO) the Big Muff really shines on more distorted settings.
I have the NYC reissue, which is a little smoother than the Russian one, but it's all good. They do seem to prefer single coils, though.
I cried because I had no shoes, 'till I met a man who had no feet. So I said, 'You got any shoes you're not using'?
