no offense, but the Silverface Pro Reverb DOES have two 12`s. It`s the new ones Fender makes that have only one.)
Anyhow, I wound up buying the Pro. It`s a great amp. It sounded (to me) as good as the Twin. The tremolo is beautiful and the reverb is killer. I turned the `verb up to 10 and just couldn`t help playing Dick Dale`s "Surf Beat". This is the sound I`ve been looking for.
I actually wound up paying only $420 for it, $280 less than the Twin. Sure, it`s 30 watts less, but It`s more than loud enough for bar gigs. After I play a couple with it, I`ll post a review on Harmony Central. I`d recommend this amp as an affordable option to a Twin Reverb. I still don`t know why it`s so much cheaper, but I don`t care.

I wish I would have seen your post earlier...I just purchased a 78 Pro Reverb. I love mine. The 60 watts that these guys put out is more than enough for me. I can`t imagine how anyone can use a 100 watt Twin. Some of the early Pro`s had a single 15"...that`s maybe what someone else was talking about. Is your Pro one with the push-pull master vol? It`s not marked, so you`ll just have to check it to see. It`s not a very good effect, so I never use it. Actually, I never use the Master Volume at all. I always keep it dimed. Even though these amps are normally cleaner than a Twin, I find that I like the true, clean Fender tones much better on these. Also, the Pro seems to work well with pedals, so if I need a distorted tone, I can always chain in a Tube Screamer. Just a footnote...I just grabbed a Deluxe Reverb `65 Reissue and think that it`s the holy grail of Fender amps. It`s 22 watts are perfect for a bigger bedroom amp. I can also use it live as most gigs the guitar amps are mic`d. I`m glad you like yours. I love mine. Don`t worry about the value now...it`ll go up. I guarantee you that. later, m

Exactly. The Fender Pro Amp had a 15" Different amp from a Pro Reverb Amp introduced in late 65,which all seemed to have the 2x12. Never seen a 60 watt pro reverb. Most were 40 or later 70 watts..Great amps..

I just bought a `73 SF Pro Reverb. No master volume, no mid control, original Oxford speakers. 40 watts; has been blackfaced by a very good amp tech. I played a SF Twin recently and just HAD to buy an old Fender amp after that...
You guys seem to have the "ultralinear" version of the Pro Reverb; this version has more power (70 watts), more headroom, a master volume with push/pull boost and a mid control on the 2nd channel. It has a cleaner sound than the 40 watts version but does not distort as nice.
I am still waiting for my Pro to arrive...I`ll let you know what I think about it. Enjoy your amp

100 watt solid state amp (ah, the wonder of tubes).
Although it`s got lots of headroom, it can distort when the volume is on 9 or 10 (good thing it has a master volume or I`d be deaf by now). But you`re right- it`s not the world`s greatest overdrive. I still haven`t gotten around to trying a pedal in front of it, but I`m sure my Tube Works pedal will do fine. With my band, I play clean about 80% of the time anyway. And this is the best clean sound I`ve ever had (not to mention the sweetest reverb).
So, is the pull function on the master a gain boost? It doesn`t really sound much louder on mine when out. It just seems to boost certain frequencies (mostly mids). It sounds much nicer when in.

Hi,

Simone from Italy here.

I have a Pro Reverb 75', no master volume
with special JBL speakers.
It sound great really great.
I prefer the Pro cause the Twin has to many watt and with my Pro I play with volume at 3/4.
Nice Reverb super clean and sweet sound.
I mainly use a LP Standard.
I think this amp is to compare to the De Luxe Reverb that maybe is a little better or different but the Pro is much better than the Twin cause I don't tink guys that you are able to
play guitar at volume 3/4 with a Twin.
My Pro Reverb is quite heavythis is the only problem.

Hi There Simone, Try turning the volume up on the twin and volume adjust from guitar to the desired level Thats How I played for years.

However, as with most things in life it is a matter of personal choice.
