Sorry to hear of your brothers passing.... Based up the Fender database this guitar is an "American Standard" and could be anywhere from a 1982 to a 1999.... I would recommend...
I would recommend a Fender Standard Stratocaster for rock n roll or a Fender Standard Telecaster for more jazzy or blues songs. Check them out and make your decision.
