Got one for ya'll:
Where should an equalizer pedal be strung om a pedal board before or after the distorsion pedal? A buudy bough a BOSS GE-7 and has it after the distorsion pedal and I suggested the placement before it. The pedal paperwork didn't reference a location but believe I'm right on this. Anyone out there can back me or bury me? Your input is desired....

EQ pedals can be used anywhere in the signal chain, it depends on what you are trying to accomplish and there are no rules. After the Distortion/Overdrive is great for really shaping the sound of hard rock and metal sounds or as a boost for solos and/or preventing feedback. EQ before the Distortion/Overdrive is good for changing the overall sound of your guitar or emphasizing distortion in certain frequencies.
If you have a delay pedal with 2 outputs, such as a Boss unit that outputs a dry signal on one output (L) and the repeats on the other output (R), try placing the EQ on just the right output. This allows you to roll the high frequencies off the repeats only and effectively turning your sterile sounding digital delay into a warm organic sounding tone machine without effecting your overall tone. Boss (Roland) have a Guitar Effects Guidebook on their website that not surprisingly suggests using an EQ before and after your Distortion pedal so I guess you and your buddy both win.

i use my EQ at the end, after i set the EQ volume up 1/4 pass the middle mark, I turn the volume down on my guitar half way, then adjust the amp volume right were I want it. This way I boost the volume on my guitar for leads when I need to. The result is powerful tone and no loss. Enjoy
