I'm still learning to play. But, I'm getting to the point where I'm not super happy with the old esp m-50 beater I've been learning on.

I've got an opportunity to buy a used Epiphone Les Paul '56 Goldtop re-issue. (Stamped "Used" on the back by Epi - guy assures me it's not a second) for $250.
It has a few minor scratches - but seems in good shape. I play mostly classic rock and roll, a little country, some blues, etc..

Would this be a good guitar to move up to and a decent deal based on what I play?
I feel sorry for short people, you know. When it rains, they're the last to know.
