Hello, I`m trying to find a good direct sound with my valve amp or preamp(without the load), to play with headphones and maybe record. The options out there seems to be: Palmer Pga-04 (dummy load and speaker-sim) Marshall SE-100 used Red Box Pro(only speaker sim) Koch Lb-120(dummy load and speaker sim) Thd Hotplate (only dummy-load)
What of these do you think is worth? Anyone can compare the Palmer Pga-04 sound with the old Pdi-03? Is there any digital speaker-sim (like the one in the G-Force for example) in this price range(~300$)?

Tried only the LB-120. And can say it sure is okay, I gig with it and the live sound (as well as recordings) is great.
My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure.

Sure it is, otherwise I wouldn`t have stated its fine live and recorded sound!

Go for the LB 120. Great box , got one and am a happy puppy with this box.

I have the SE-100 and a Palmer. The Palmer sounds better as a D.I. speaker sim, the SE-100 lets the amp breathe more--looser response, a bit more distortion. The THD has no speaker sim, but can be a good load for some amps. (Don`t like it so much with a 15w Matchless, ok with some higher power heads.) Could use it with a Red Box or a Palmer direct box, if you find these things at a good price.
Christmas can be celebrated in the school room with pine trees, tinsel and reindeers, but there must be no mention of the man whose birthday is being celebrated. One wonders how a teacher would answer if a student asked why it was called Christmas.

Ok, thanks, now i`m choosing between the Koch Loadbox (which someone says it`s better than the Palmer pdi-03) and the Palmer Pga-04. Anyone can compare them soundwise?
