dragonettes

I am not much of a pop girl and bands like Duran Duran, and singers like Cindy Lauper, have really never impressed me, although they were the hot thing for certain crowds in my formidable years.
Pop is usually a bit shallow and pradictable to hold my interest for long, I prefure rock or interesting electronic music or blues - or just music that you can find new things to notice every time you listen to this.
I was reading a post about Dragonette on Girl About Town, and was pretty sure that I would not like what the did particularly, given as they had worked with Duran Duran, and Cindy Lauper, but being morning, and me still being in staring mode, I clicked the mp3 to give them ago - and what do you know, they actually managed to grab my attention, and made me press play yet again.
As Girl about Town says:

While it’s still pop music, Dragonette makes an edgy modern soundtrack filled with pervasive moments of female vocals and pulsating melodic beats. With songs titles like “Jesus Doesn’t Love Me” and subject matter ranging from sex addiction and prostitution, this isn’t your big sister’s dance music. It’s jaded, seductive, and not for the faint of heart.

Dragonettes have a MySpace Page, like any respectable musicians does these days, with several other tracks to sample. I must admit, that the MP3 on girl about town is the best of the bunch (Sharp Dressed Man), also, lets get lucky is an unexpected little gem The rest are a little to pop for me, but enjoyable non the less.

I would love to see them divert some more from what you would expect from your run of the mill pop group - they have such a lot going for them.
