greetings fellow earthlings! been seeing them (deltalab rack effects) on ebay recently going for pretty cheap, and the reviews over at harmony central seem favorable. again, i`m in the market for a digital delay thats warm and `vintage` sounding, and recently turned my attention to old school rack effects by ibanez and deltalabs after looking at stompboxes. i`m curious bout their delays, so has anyone used their stuff? good or bad? you tell me. thanks!

I`ve only played with it a little so far. I think for the money you certainly should give one a try. If I keep this one it`ll be as a modulation delay. It does seem pretty warm as digital delays go. I`m running mine in a loop. I don`t know if it`d work as well in front of the amp. It certainly has plenty of play in the controls. I can send it off the edge with any of them. This means you can get lots of funky weird sounds pretty easily. It also means it takes a little work to dial in more traditional sounds, but it`s still nice to have the flexibility.

ok, I`m a huge deltalab fanatic, I can probably answer any question you have about these, and obviously I recommend them (BUT not just any model, there are many, not all good for what you want maybe) also, I`d say, based on your wants, avoid ibanez rack delays, not that they`re bad, but they are among the most un-warm and un-vintage sounding digital delays; the deltalab stuff sounds so good because they used ADM (adaptive delta modulation) instead of the usual PCM (pulse code modulation), combined with usually low bit-depth (on some models) so look at the Effectron I ADM 1020 (or Effectron Jr, which is even lower fidelity, same features), which sounds good but is limited in functionality, or the Effectron III ADM 1030 (or Super Time Line ADM 512 or ADM 2048) which is a truly great delay, with great features; or the harder to find DL-4 Time Line from the performer series, higher end, many more features; the Echotron ADM 4096 doesn`t have modulation in the same vein, I`d not recommend the Boss DE-200, DOD/Digitech rack delays, or the ADA S-1000 for you (again nice delays, too clean for what you sound like you want), but I would recommend an old Ross digital delay (which I think is very similar to the Korg 1 sec digital delay) and the hard to find ADA 2.56 sec delay--both of those have high cut controls, which is really indispensible come back with any further questions, for like which models have what features, I could talk about this all day! good luck chris greene (not the Fender guy)

wow guys. . .thanks for all the helpful info! okay, i`m looking at the basic effectron I model first. does that have a volume drop when engaged? and since there`s no power switch on the front (is there one on the back?) does this mean that i have to keep this in a bypass loop and switch it on only when i need it? thanks in advance.

I have a DeltaLab Effectron II which is great for all sorts of delays. I personally like using it to create a doubling effect. This unit does about the best double that I can remember. I would go to E-bay and try to get my hands on one right away. They also made a unit which I also have called the Effectron Jr. This unit is also very nice. However the Effectron II allows you to do Flanging and delays etc. Try it you like it.

old footswitch would do it, or you just manually adjust the mix control to 100% dry--that`s what I`ve done and I don`t get a volume drop, but individual units may vary; I didn`t like the sound quality of the effectron II, but I do like the I and the III have fun cg
