Hello all i just love the guitar sound on the album `Scary Monsters`, the really echoey metallic feel to it, notably on the solo(s) on `Fashion`.
In more recent times Graham Coxon from Blur achieved a similar sound (for example `London Loves` from the album `Parklife`).
Of course I have made guesses to how to get this sound, but does anyone know specifically what equipment / guitars would get that sound?
Let him that would move the world first move himself.

volume pedal, and into a Marshall amp. Or it might have been a Musicman amp of some sort, as thats what he was using for at least part of the Frippertronics tour in 1979, and would use one on the first `80s King Crimson tour. Fuzzbox might have been an Electro Harmonix Big Muff or a Guild Foxy Lady. Ultimately tho` I don`t think the specific gear matters all that much in Fripp`s case, as he`s gotten similar sounds with different setups over the years. tim gueguen 101867
Philosophers, for the most part, are constitutionally timid, and dislike the unexpected. Few of them would be genuinely happy as pirates or burglars. Accordingly they invent systems which make the future calculable, at least in its main outlines.

flanger... I don`t remember the exact settings, but turn the depth and rate knobs all the way down; manual and resonance knobs to taste- they work together to fine tune the sound!

Well, I agree with this one when it comes to the Big Muff. What you have to realize about those recordings is that there was a lot of `Tom Foolery` done after the recordings during production. Bowie was always going for new sounds - a good example is that first song on Scary Monsters that is sung in Japanese - totally dry with those bad high notes.... very daring for somebody in his position at that time - especially for an opening track on a `comeback` record. Yet another peek at his genius...
Back to the guitar parts - the meat and potatoes of it definitely sounds like Big Muff, but, there`s a lot of delay/harmonization/reverb added........
