I am trying to understand what this Fender Custom Shop guitar really is:
http://net.indra.com/~mc/strat_0009_front.jpg http://net.indra.com/~mc/strat_0009_back.jpg http://net.indra.com/~mc/strat_0009_side-l.jpg http://net.indra.com/~mc/strat_0009_top.jpg http://net.indra.com/~mc/strat_0009_top-l.jpg http://net.indra.com/~mc/strat_0009_top-r.jpg

An exceptional Stratocaster, but the custom shop serial number is
0009. Can anybody explain why the serial number is so low? In person it looks far better than online. It has extremely birdseyed maple neck, deep flames, that show through the side binding (how'd they do that), exceptional neck... etc. Custom shop logo on back of headstock round, and on heel plate.

Anybody got a clue as to what this instrument is? Is it a master luthier made? Some special series? It is not a showmaster - it has a stratocaster logo.

I am confused, and no it is not for sale. Just wondering...

Fender customer support gave me the following information:

Serial 0009
Carved Top Strat (that's the model)
Antique Cherry Burst, sold to Sam Ash music in 1996

For all the complaints I have heard about Fender Customer Service they just rocked for me!

Well, it is a nice guitar, that's for sure, and a low serial number! I just purchased the guitar, so am pretty happy with it.
