I recently purchased a Belkin TuneTalk which is a small stereo condenser mic that plugs directly into the port of an iPod.

Next time you sync the iPod it dumps it into your iTunes library in WAV format for you to do with as you will.

It is awesome for getting quick and dirty recordings of shows, band practices, and other stuff. The device has a setting that disables compression and can handle pretty loud music without clipping.

The frequency response is a bit funky -- you will need to EQ the WAV file somewhat, but it works great and no fuss.
