I recently tripped over a deal that I'm sure was almost to sick to be true but I'm not 100% sure on the axe. I think I know what it is but I havent been able to find an image or similar fender like this anywhere. I think it is a fender Showmaster Blackout (see pics). Anyway i got this axe and a Kustom Quad 100 DFX amp for $300.00!
The amp alone sells for around $500.00 new and the guitars I think this one is sells for around $1000.00

Can anyone confirm what the hell this is for me? serial# 03034145

bigmike68 I don't remember if I said this already, but if not:

welcome to the forum.

I have no idea. Some things need visual proof - others don't. I have absolutly no idea. Sorry

thanks for taking a peek Slash. i still think shes a Showmaster Blackout from what ive seen. I just havent found or seen one with this same design as far as the off white that goes around the perimeter of the guitar. generally the Showmasters I've seen have the Seymor Duncans in them and I cant make out any name on these pick-ups. i dont no crap about guitars really but I guess I'm learning. now that I have this little beast i can have my son show me a few things and really feel like I belong here.

Oh..... yes you did welcome me. but I'll always take a second!

Thanks,

BM

Here is a pic of the head stock that you requested TulsaWayne. I hope you can shed some light on this thang.

Thanks,

I trying to get a look at a Fender Showmaster Blackout elsewhere but I have no luck so far. Until what I saw now it was too unclear to see the difference between your headstock and those on the photos I saw (they weren't close-ups).

I'll keep looking though. Perhaps TulsaWayne knows more about it.

This is intereseting, yes it is a Fender Showmaster and it appears to be the Blackout variation, with its obviously missing chrome accents. Also indicitive of the Blackout style is the missing inlays from the fret board, that was only done on the blackout variation of the Showmaster from what I could uncover. The headstock being the same color as the body was a Showmaster trait as well.

Some of the other Showmaster traits were the dual humbuckers and 24 frets (Teles and Strats have 22)

Sowmasters were introduced about 1998 but only survived about 6 or 7 years, info is a little sparse. It appears most of these were Korean made axes. Selling price, new, was in the $400-700 range depending on options. The Blackout model of the Showmaster supposedly didn't come out until 2003. Now the weird part...

The Showmaster series, before it was introduced in '98, started life as Fender Custom Shop model. When reading about those is the only time I saw anything about the cream binding on the body. It may mean nothing, but if you have a Custom Shop model it could be worth a decent amount of coin. Perhaps the cream binding was an option that just didn't get photographed or talked about, I don't know.

If I were you, email Fender, send them some CLEAN pics and the serial number and have them tell you what it is, they will know.

Tulsa, although this is not my guitar, I am getting rather excited about this. There seems to be a 'hidden' line that turns up now while Mike has got a product of that line?

Humm, no cream colored pick ups on mine...the shop owner told me it's a Blackout....had some trouble with keeping it in tune, the floating bridge was the issue.but the shop owner resolved the problem for me. Plays great now!

Yah...my P/U's arent cream either and i know these are the originals. Maybe an option???? All other features check out though. This one plays like a dream (according to my friends that know what they're talking about) I'm a drummer just plucking around a bit.

Yah...it's fore sure a showmaster. I posted the specs (per ser#) in an earlier post. Check this out... I am doing a custom paint job on a vintage 84' Jackson Soloist. The original top-coat neede to be completely scraped off due to a bad..no..terrible bond with the base coat. See below.... more pics to follow as I progress. This will take a long time as I cant do any prep unless the humidity is low enough to take it out of temp controlled studio. I dont do any sanding inside because of dust.
