Hi
I am wanting to upgrade a bit from my Epi Special 2. I was wondering about the Fenders - the standard Hss is for $500 and the Hss fr for about $750.
I am wondering if the is a huge difference between the two models, because if there isn't I could stay whith the HSS and with the extra money by a decent tube amp.
what do you think? I would appreciate your thoughts...

Hi Kathleen,

I can't speak from experience on this one as I haven't played both models....However, as always it really is a question of personal taste...I have seen reports that the Standard is fine, if however you would like humbuckers at the bridge then go for that.(I personally think SS pups are fine) I would be tempted to take the standard and get an upgrade in the amp department. Try out all the combinations at your local music store before you make your decision.
