Unlike the usual fair on this blog, this is not guitar oriented music, and is not in the least bit Rock n Roll. On the Other hand, it is heartstoping, and very powerful in a completely different way.
Bruce Peninsula, a Canadian group, who toured widely during 2007 have now released there debut album, managing to capture the vibrant energy that they output in there performances.
The volume of the vocals - The band has 10 members and unless I am very much mistaken, they all sing, adds to the magnitude giving it a bit of a folksy choral sound.
I admit that I haven’t seen them perform, and I haven’t had the chance to listen to them to much, so what I write here is my first impression of their work.
According to the Myspace page, where there are several tracks you can listen to, their influences are
singers, yellers, whisperers, whiners, garglers, gentles and goons.
To learn more about this band you can read more and stream their album at CBC radio 3, or read about them at their official site
Via Chromewaves v7 (who did a great post on Bruce Peninsula, and introduced me to them.)
