Boss ME-50 ideas...

Got one a couple weeks ago to go with a new amp. Sounds OK, does a lot of tricks, BUT -

(1) Wondering if anyone has added a footswitch to the "edit" function so once a patch is selected the individual FX can be switched on & off? This to me would increase the value of this box tenfold. I've already modded an old Fender 2-button f-switch to do the eq & compressor; to add one more would require replacing the TRS f-switch jack with some other kind of connector & it starts getting complicated...UNLESS - it could be set up so hitting BOTH extra f-switches at once would enter/exit EDIT mode. That would probably take a firmware change...but what a dynamite idea.

Meantime I'll see if I can rig up a mechanical button extension using superglue & popsicle sticks....

(2) Is there a multi- FX unit that lets you separate the time-based effects (with their own in/out jacks) so they can be run from the amp's loop instead of thru the input? I have a Quadraverb GT that does just that but (A) the distortions are unusable, ( I want knobs & a 'manual' mode.

I really don't want to have 2 separate floor units. And I don't want a huge midi pedal in front of me like my ART X15.

It works OK in the loop if the level's low enough, like in my Tech 21.
But it won't work in my Fender Prosonic if the level is jacked up to a decent level.

But even in the Tech 21 I can't use the ME-50 distortion at all, I get a horrible distortion that sounds almost digital. If I run the ME-50 in front of the Tech21 the distortions work great but the time-FX get lost in the haze, so I need to be able to do both.

I think before I decide to keep it I'll open it up to see if modding looks possible. I'm actually not a huge effects user but I want them to be the best possible when I do.

Alright, I'm sorta naive about effects and all, so I didn't realize this thing won't work in the effects loop. Thing is, my new ME-50 works fine in the effects loop, and I use the Boss PSM-5 off my power supply to serve as effects bypass. Works like a champ. Signal out from amp to input of me-50, left output to signal return. Of course, ymmv...Sam
