Im looking for a new multi effect and got my eyes on the Boss GT-6. I would like som user review on that. The questions I´ve got is:

1. When you ran it through an amp, does it color the sound? Has it true bypass?
2. Can you use it just for the effects and bypass the pre-amp?
3. I saw the description on the manual that there is some settings for the outputjack suchs as "small amp" and that kind of crap. How about clean and uncolored sound?

I would like to use it only for the effects and ran them through the loop and use my own amps tube sound. Is that possible? Or should I just go for the G-major?

I just bought one. Have been using a POD live into my amp for about 2 years and I must say, out of the box the GT-6 factory presets are a LOT nicer. One thing I noticed is, there's less effect from A/D to D/A conversion than in the POD. An Electrical Engineer buddy of mine tested this on a spectrum analyzer and says

"...I've measure the input/output transfer function with a spectrum analyzer and the direct through is very good - flat from about 9Hz to
22Khz with low noise an total harmonic distortion..."

It will take me a while to get it set up the way I like, but my acid test is always running their "clean" settings into my Fender Vibrolux.
This BOSS unit performs far better than the POD. Much more realistic dynamics and less coloring of the signal (less compression) IMHO. The other nice thing is, you can turn off the pre-amp section in any preset, which will remove any obvious coloring of the tone. Another thing I like to do is A/B their "Fender" preset with my REAL Fender. This is very close! Much closer than the POD, as far as I'm concerned

No bypass button. But you can program a patch without any effects. Or use the tuner which can be used as a bypass.

Yes you can switch off the preamp modelling and just have one or several of the other effects.

I have the GT6B for my basses and I live it.

There is a tuner/bypass button that I believe can be used for a totally clean sound.

Mine is set to "tuner" and I just use the last footswitch on the right (next to the foot pedal). It is marked "BYPASS/CTL and bypasses most of the time. (Sometimes it starts and stops the Sound on Sound recording).

All in all it is a great processor and you should run to the music store the first chance you get and pick one up....
