Plate voltages and biasing..My Marshall 2205 JCM 800 came from the mod dudes with a bias of 23Ma..448 plate volts. They were 40hr burned in Chinese tubes too...The amp sounded great...I was fooled by this..Does anybody know if there is a secret to biasing that way..I know the biasing formulas etc..It really comes down to using the bias formula and the listening test for me...Does anybody know of this??

Hi Crobar, welcome to the forum

I never heard of that. I will search the web for it now. Does it have any effect on every day use?

I've never heard of it either...You can teach an old dog new tricks though...The amp sounded awesome when played at that bias too..I would have never figured it...Since ,I have upgraded my power tranny to a Mercury, which made my plate voltages jump to 455 and re biased to appropriate values/with Siemens NOS EL 34's...My preference in power bottles....Thanks for the interest...J Crobar

I see. So it's serious. I will keep on looking and inform you accordingly. I hope to find something that could look like a solution soon. Be back

Thanks for the interest..I think somebody must have forgotten about re-setting somehow..No big deal, all is well now...JCM 800 50 watt Merc output Iron, 10 henry Merc choke and Merc power Iron..The three horsemen...Well worth the effort and tone...
