I'm sure this question has been asked but I couldn't find any recent posts.
I'm a relative beginner and would like to buy a Les Paul Knockoff (can't afford or justify a Gibson) just wondering which one seems to be the best sounding/value. I know there are a few different brands that sell for under $500. The only other consideration is I'm left-handed (no I don't want to try switching to a righty, I'm very left-handed and getting old!) so I can't walk into a guitar shop and try different ones.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I'm lefthand, getting old, and love the sound and look of Les Pauls.

I also can't afford, or justify getting a Gibson.
I picked up a Left Handed Cherry Sunburst Samick LP "style" ,
Model AV-3 (Avion) Greg Bennett Series off E-Bay back in September. I got it for 200.00 It sold as "used" but it looked brand spanking new.

I'm really happy with it. I took it to Guitar Center, and did a head on comparison with an Epiphone LP Standard that sold for $569.00 using the same amp and settings.
The neck played the same, hardware, Grover tuning pegs, all the same (maybe 'cause Samick manufactures the Epiphones?)
Both have mahogany set-necks, flamed maple tops on mahogany bodies.
Weight seemed identical.
The only difference I could hear was that the Epi pup's were slightly hotter than the Samick "Duncans", although I liked the tone of the
Samick better (cleaner, using the same settings)
If Guitar Center sold these side by side, I don't see how they'd sell any Epi's....not for that huge price difference.
Check out the Samick web-sight and read up on them.
Do an EBAY search for Samick and see if there's a lefty A-3 available. I have no regrets! Good Luck, however you decide to go.

im guessing the best lp knockoff would be made by the company that made the real thing... ie epiphone.
It is only by doing things others have not that one can advance.

Yeah but I bet he lays the fastest bricks in the USA (and that's probably all he lays)
