Ultimately it`s what you think about the guitar if you like it then it`s right for you regardless of mass opinion.

gather a few were of high standard. Gary Moore used a RS 1000 at one stage, and Steve Lukather and Allan Holdsworh had RS models. I realise most people just see the cheap ones on ebay, but i was hoping to find some people who had some of the higher models.

My cousin had one way back when that wasn`t so great, but my buddy had a couple of them that were kinda cool. Don`t tell me those are collectable now.

amp. I forget the model #, but it looked like a black strat with a different head. Had 3 black single-coil pickups with the metal strip instead of six poles. It had a floyd rose.
Anyways, the strings were like a couple of years old and when tuning them the note de-tuned as the note decayed. Pretty much dead. However, through my tube amp, the tone of this guitar still sounded pretty good. Well, after I got out my screwdriver and adjusted the pickup positions closer to the strings.
The neck, I didn`t like. Narrow and curved (not flat like I am used to). All and all it wasn`t a bad guitar. Pickup selector at 4/5 (bridge and middle pickups on) had that classic strat sounding jangle. Nice.

I see the guitarist Stevie Salas has an RS-530 in his guitar collection, along with some high powered guitars, on his website. Since I have one myself I emailed him asking his opinion of it but who knows if he`ll reply. I like mine except there`s no bevelled edge for your right forearm to rest on so I get a bit of a crease there. RGC

right on! i think ibanez copes a bit of a bad rap for catering not only to the pro player but also to the lower end of the market. both are valid. i think that is certainly one of their marketing strengths: you can progress through their range almost continuously through a whole range of price points as your budget/expertise/appreciation increases. and hey, they were certainly one of the big manufacturers during the leather-pants-poodle-haired metal scene. i realise that that era is quite embarrassing to reflect upon now given that it was so recent, but i`m sure in time we`ll view that era with a fondness now reserved for 60`s/70`s. the fact that ibanez continues to do well post-90`s is testament to the fact that they developed strong branding identity amongst the super-strat scene. sure, they`re not everyone`s cup of tea, but i figure most versatile players have room in their arsenal for an ibanez type axe. now, i must put my hand out for a slapping for having toyed with the whammy bar a little too much since picking up my RGT42FM, but hey, it`s a lot of fun. i sure as shit couldn`t play that stuff on my telecaster.
