Hi, I haven't played for about a year, and yesterday decided to give it ago again, but my amp won't cooperate - it turns on, but when I connect the guitar, absolutely no sound comes out. Can anyone advise me on what the problem might be?

I don't know what amp you have but have you checked the obvious..."A Fuse" Depending on where you live the plugs may also be fused...with the amp, with it off and plug out check where the lead enters the amp and you will see the transformer usually black and square, right by this should be a fuse,or fuses, remove it and see if you can visually see if its o.k. If not you will have to borrow a multimeter or the like. Another thing that can happen if anything has been near the amp is that a speaker lead can be pulled off the speaker, check that both leads are attached to the speaker

If the amp has been moved around during the time that also could have broken something...Is it solid state or Valve.?? If valve see if any valves are lit.

Hope this helps
